A while back it was noticed that the old XE and and OandA currency functions were not working and so I coded up a solution using fixer.io and dropped it into the Core of the Responsive osCommerce version.
Just been advised by a client that this is no longer working as Fixer have pulled their open version and made it into a closed API.
10 minutes later the client has a working Currency Updater, using the new Currency API. Couple of Core Changes needed as the osCommerce currency system is, frankly, crap. It really needs to be stripped down and reworked to make it modular, so that all that needs to be done is drop in a new file whenever a different currency API is to be used.
I’m taking a break from osCommerce, but when I return I’ll drop the new Currency API into the core, I may even strip out the system and rework it. Anyone who wants the updated system in the meantime, if you are one of the “good guys”… email me and I’ll send it to you.
System has been totally revamped, so now Shopowner can drop in new module (eg when they want to change to a different currency converter). Go into admin, uninstall whatever module they have installed, and install the new one.
Will drop this into Core soon.
