You’ve added XYZ to your cart

By | January 25, 2011

For the build I’ve been working on for the last couple of days, a really nice feature is a message that shows when the buyer adds something to their cart. Basically it’s a reinforcement of the action they just took;

Let me know what you think.

The code is based on the last added product ID in the cart item list array. I had to create 1 function to grab the product model to get it working as I wanted.

In the video you might also notice a kinky “Best Sellers” box – I might blog about that tomorrow.

    this is a really nice feature, but i am more for make an actual lightbox style pop that says, xyz just added to your cart – like to checkout or continue shopping?

    I hope you know what i mean..
    In your example, i think it would make more sense to use the message, if you decide not to show cart after add product..

    Ok, let me know if you find it and I’ll shoot you over some beer money for the code if that works for you 🙂

    Matt – probably take less time to recode it than to try to find it. Email me if you want a quote.

    This is a feature on Magento if you choose not to go to the cart after an item is added. We use this and doing customer visits recently, one commented how it had suddenly started working and she thought it was a really good thing to have.
